CHE Racing's Jimmy Piszcyk eager to extend Australian Formula Ford lead up north

Following a dominant performance at Sydney Motorsport Park, CHE Racing Team and Jimmy Piszcyk will aim to extend the advantage held at the top of the Australian Formula Ford Series standings at Morgan Park for Round 5 of the campaign this weekend.

Piszcyk took a clean-sweep at Sydney Motorsport Park as he enters the fifth round with a 34-point advantage ahead of Sonic Motor Racing Services driver Valentino Astuti.

Since a breakthrough performance at Phillip Island where he was narrowly beaten in two of the three races, Piszcyk has emerged as a consistent contender although extended his series margin considerably with his performance in Sydney.

A pre-event test at Morgan Park ensures Piszcyk and Lobko are best prepared for the challenges the circuit presents this weekend.

It was another impressive performance from Zak Lobko also in Sydney as he finished inside the top 10 for the first time this season. Lobko continues to improve at each round and will be one to watch at Morgan Park.

The last month has been one filled with success for the CHE Racing Team as Piszcyk’s aforementioned achievements occurred on the same weekend as the squad’s Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge driver Thomas Sargent completed a clean-sweep at Queensland Raceway.

This further enhances the developmental pathway the CHE Racing Team offers, with Sargent the reigning Australian Formula Ford Series winner providing support to the operation’s two entries this weekend.

Round 5 of the Australian Formula Ford Series gets underway with private practice on Friday before qualifying and three races across the weekend.

QUOTES

Jimmy Piszcyk
#93 Iocane/CHE Racing Team

“We had a great weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park by taking the three wins and we’ll be looking to continue that at Morgan Park,” said Piszcyk.

“We’re just aiming to build those points every race, finish top three every race to ensure we keep the margin we have.

“We did a test up there a month or so ago and it's just a really bumpy track. The racing should be good there, so I’m eager to get there this weekend.”

Zak Lobko
#7 Elite Attachments/CHE Racing Team

“We had good pace in testing at Morgan Park, so I’m definitely looking forward to the round,” enthused Lobko.

“I actually quite like the track so we’ll see how we go and I feel we should get a good result there.

“I’m improving and it was good in Sydney to build up some momentum heading into the final three rounds.

“My aim for the rest of the season is to score as many points as possible. I know I can do it, I have the pace and in Sydney I scored the most points I have at a round this season by a long way, so if I can improve on that I’ll be happy.”

Cameron Hill
Team Owner, CHE Racing Team

“There’s a lot to play for still, so it’s important we focus on all those one percenters and give Jimmy the best opportunity to continue to score good points,” Hill said.

“We had a really productive day a while back and we learnt so much in one day, especially me as I had never been there before.

“The first few rounds we were down in Victoria. That’s not our home turf and Jimmy performed very strongly, but now we’re on neutral ground. It’s certainly an opportunity to get something up on our rivals.

“Zak has improved massively this year. It’s been a super steep learning curve as he’s racing guys who have double, even triple the amount of experience that he does behind the wheel of a race car.

“I’m looking forward to watching how the CHE Racing Team perform at Morgan Park.”
