Based in Queanbeyan, CHE Racing is a motorsport services organisation, combining the ingredients of race car preparation and race driver development to produce success on the track.

History

From humble beginnings as a family-run, single-car Formula Ford operation, CHE Racing has evolved into a professional operation that has guided multiple drivers to success in some of Australia’s most competitive motorsport categories.

Originally formed as an offshoot of Colin Hill Engineering, CHE Racing’s first foray into car racing came in 2014, when Colin’s son Cameron made his debut in the Australian Formula Ford Series. Cameron’s raw talent, combined with Colin’s attention to detail and engineering prowess, saw CHE Racing taking out the national title in 2015.

In 2016 and ‘17, CHE Racing squad campaigned an entry for Cameron in the brand-new Toyota 86 Series, claiming the most race wins and pole positions to date. It was during these years that CHE Racing’s customer Formula Ford program was born, running an entry for Lachlan Mineeff in the NSW and Victorian State Championships.

Further expansion followed in 2018, with Cameron progressing to the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Series, while the Formula Ford operation grew to two cars with Lachlan being joined by Tom Sargent.

The work ethic and rigorous attention to detail of Cameron, Colin and the CHE Racing Team were validated in 2019 with the team achieving race wins in two national categories, Cameron breaking through for his first Carrera Cup victory at Hidden Valley while both Lachlan and Tom scored Formula Ford round triumphs, highlighted by a 1-2 finish at The Bend Motorsport Park.

While 2020 was interrupted by COVID-19, it was still a successful year for CHE Racing with Cameron winning a Carrera Cup race at the Australian Grand Prix, and Tom taking out the NSW Formula Ford Championship.

The wave of momentum continued into 2021, with CHE Racing achieving the feat of two national titles in the same season – Cameron stormed to the Carrera Cup title with six race victories, while Tom and Noah Sands scored a 1-2 finish in national Formula Ford.

2022 was another successful season for the CHE Racing operation, Tom taking out the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge while James Piszcyk took multiple race and round wins in Formula Ford. Tom and Cameron also teamed up for the Bathurst 6 Hour aboard a BMW M2 production car built in-house at CHE Racing; they took a spectacular win from the back of the grid.
