CHE Racing's Jimmy Piszcyk has extended his grip on the 2022 Australian Formula Ford Series with a solid haul of points at Morgan Park Raceway.

After qualifying on pole, Piszcyk was involved in a Race 1, Lap 1 incident that bent a steering arm and heavily compromised his pace.

A series of safety cars, and an excellent display of cool and calm driving saw him finish sixth to keep him within a shout of his series challengers.

In Race 2, Piszcyk used his head to come home fourth, and ultimately took third in Race 3 to replicate this position overall for the weekend. It was enough to extend his lead in the series with two rounds to go.

Piszcyk's CHE Racing team-mate Zak Lobko also had a standout weekend, finishing fifth, ninth and a season-best fourth at the Queensland circuit.

The rookie Formula Ford driver put in a masterful display in the final race, passing cars and seeing off challengers to claim a spot just off the podium demonstrating he is ready to become a regular threat to the top runners.

The next round of the Australian Formula Ford Series will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park on September 16-18, with the CHE Racing Team again completing double duty as Thomas Sargent continues his campaign in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at Sandown.

“It was a difficult weekend for us, but it was a good one all-in-all,” said Piszcyk.

“We qualified on pole, but in Race 1 we had a bit of an incident, which bent our steering arm putting us in sixth.

“We moved forward a couple of positions in Race 2 to finish in fourth and in the final event we were third.

“Big thanks to the crew at CHE Racing Team, the car was hooked up all weekend, especially in Race 3 and it allowed me to do what I could to get close to second.

“The Bend is next and should be a good one as it’s a home race for me.”

“I had a great weekend and good results here at Morgan Park, particularly in Races 1 and 3,” said Lobko.

“I had really good pace and I was happy with how the weekend panned out.

“I must thank the team at CHE Racing Team for the set-up on the car all weekend and I’m looking forward to The Bend in three weeks time.”
