Sargent Achieves Clean Sweep in Racing Return

Tom Sargent has taken another clean sweep of race wins in the NSW Formula Ford Championship round, supporting the Repco Supercars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.

Sargent was fastest in both practice sessions, qualifying and won all three races, but he paid credit to his CHE Racing team-mate Noah Sands, who was his closest challenger in each race.

“I am so ecstatic with how the weekend went – to be fastest in every session and win every race is awesome, but to have Noah competing so closely with me is brilliant for the CHE Racing Team and to do it in front of the Supercars audience is unbelievable.”

Sargent and Sands battled particularly closely in the second race, held in wet conditions.

“The second race was so much fun; Noah was very fast and managed to overtake me,” Sargent said.

“I followed him for a couple of laps and managed to get back ahead just a few corners before the finish.

“Noah and I both really enjoyed ourselves but I think everyone in the team was tearing their hair out – there were a few moments where our cars got very close together!”

There is no rest for Sargent, who heads to Bathurst on Thursday to complete some practice laps in a Porsche 911 GT3 at the Challenge Bathurst event, before heading to Winton on Friday for this weekend’s third round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship.

“After so long out of the car, it’s good to have a few racing events in quick succession to get me back into the groove,” Sargent said.

“It will be good to have a taste of a Porsche at Bathurst, but my focus is very much on winning the Australian Formula Ford title; I’m in a great position so I’m determined to get the job done,” Sargent concluded.
