Team boss lauds performance after unique Formula Ford round in Tasmania

CHE Racing Team leader Cameron Hill kept a watching brief from afar in Tasmania due to his Repco Supercars Championship commitments, but was impressed by the squad’s results as Zak Lobko left the Apple Isle atop the Australian Formula Ford Series standings.

Hill’s unique position was embraced by Truck Assist Racing as it accommodated the CHE Racing Ream trio of Lobko, Imogen Radburn and Lachlan Strickland by enabling the young drivers to support their mentor within the garage.

It proved a successful weekend for the team despite the absence of its leader as Lobko scored two podiums, Strickland a top five and Radburn grew ever closer to achieving a top 10 in the national series.

It’s a short turnaround of three weeks until the CHE Racing Team return to the track for Round 4 of the Australian Formula Ford Series at Winton in rural Victoria, a circuit the squad tested at earlier this year.

Hill will return to acting as Team Manager and mentor to the three drivers as Lobko aims to build on his slender lead in the standings.

Team Manager, CHE Racing Team

"I was very proud of our Formula Ford team this weekend, it's the first time I've ever taken a back seat and they did a fantastic job. Zak has moved into the championship lead and both Lachlan and Imogen performed really well.

“I really enjoyed watching them on the telecast, that last race was nerve wracking!"
