Australian Formula Ford Series leader Jimmy Piszcyk has salvaged a good haul of points to retain the lead of the prestigious crown with just one round to go.
Piszcyk, driving for CHE Racing at The Bend Motorsport Park, got his weekend off to a flying start, qualifying second and winning the first race in front of the competitive pack.
His results on Sunday did not reflect his pace, however. He finished fourth in the first race, only to cop a penalty for passing under yellow flag conditions, dropping him to 16th.
In the third and final race, the series leader scathed through the field to be as high as fourth, only to make a small error that sent him back of the field again.
He fought back to claim 12th and retain a 15 point lead in the title with three races to go.
Zak Lobko had a competitive weekend at the South Australian venue, despite coming up short on the results list.
Coming off the back of his best Formula Ford weekend at Morgan Park, Lobko qualified sixth before finishing seventh in both Race 1 and 2. In the last race, Lobko’s consistent run was ruined when he was taken out by a rival, resulting in him crossing the line in 13th place.
The final round of the 2022 Australian Formula Ford Series will be held at Sandown on October 29-30.

“We started the weekend on a high, qualifying P2 and winning the first race,” said Piszcyk.
“Sunday for us was a bit of a struggle. In Race 2, I finished fourth, but I had a penalty for passing under yellows which sent me to 16th.
“I moved my way up from the back to fourth in Race 3, but made my own mistake which ended up costing me a heap of points.
“I’d like to thank CHE Racing for all the work they did over the weekend, as well as my sponsors for helping me be here.”
Zak Lobko
“It was a good weekend and we had really strong pace,” said Lobko.
“We were moving through the field really well in the last race, but I got taken out after the Safety Car restart which put us back, so not the strongest results, but looking forward to the last round at Sydney.
“CHE will put a good car under me, so we should get some good results there.”
