Following a two month mid-season break, the Australian Formula Ford Series returns to action at the historic Sandown International Motor Raceway for Round 5 as the CHE Racing Team aim to build on an impressive start to the season.
Lachlan Strickland and Imogen Radburn continue their maiden full-Australian Formula Ford Series campaigns at Sandown, a circuit both return to this year after contesting the opening round of the Victorian state title in March.
Strickland endured a challenging weekend at Winton last time out, but is fully focused on returning to the front at Sandown where he won earlier this year. The rookie has impressed in this year’s national title by finishing on the podium once and achieving numerous top five results.
Improvement continues for Radburn as she targets the top 10 placings and her confidence continues to grow, especially at a circuit she holds previous experience at.
The duo in between rounds have also kept up seat time by testing at The Bend Motorsport Park and Phillip Island, which will host the final rounds of this year’s Australian Formula Ford Series.
CHE Racing will enter two cars this weekend, with Zak Lobko is no longer racing with the team. CHE Racing wishes him the best for his future.

Imogen Radburn
#29 CHE Racing Team
“I’m pretty keen to get back in the car at Sandown,” Radburn enthused.
“We had two test days, one at The Bend and the other at Phillip Island, which went really well as I improved my times quite a lot, so we’re looking good for the final three rounds.
“We’ve only done one round at Sandown, it was a pretty mentally challenging weekend, but learning the circuit was not too bad.
“I’m aiming for the top 10 at Sandown and to improve my times from earlier in the year. I’d love to be closer in times to give me a better shot at qualifying and for the three races.”
Lachlan Strickland
#47 CHE Racing Team
“Any track where you’ve achieved your first race win you have good rapport with,” Strickland stated.
“I’m just looking forward to it, I enjoy the track as it’s very fast and the walls are really close making it a thrilling drive full stop. Not only is it a track I’m really good at, it’s just fun to drive.
“There’s a big flow-on effect if you have a bad qualifying session because when the category is so close and you’re stuck in the pack it can be difficult to pass, which highlights the importance of starting near the front.
“It’s also important to have a good Race 1 and 2, because if you have a bad result out of these, the starting position for the finale is compromised. This has helped me to focus on the whole weekend and it’s an area I’ve improved on this season.
“I’m feeling refreshed ahead of this weekend and can’t wait to hit the track at Sandown.”
Cameron Hill
Team Owner, CHE Racing Team
“I’m looking forward to seeing how they progress again at Sandown,” Hill said.
“Lachlan had a race win down there earlier this year and it’s a track he obviously enjoys, so I’m sure he’s going to be pushing to be right up the front.
“As for Imogen, she had one of her strongest rounds at Winton as she continues to take leaps and bounds this season.”
